Tri Tip Sandwich Recipe
Equipment
- Bowl
- Brush
- Cutting board
Ingredients
To prepare a Tri-Tip:
- 1 1/2-pound tri-tip roast of beef
- 1 1/4 teaspoons of salt
- 1 1/4 teaspoons of black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon of butter, melted
- Sauce for grilling that you like (This barbecue sauce is fantastic!)
Here's What You Need for the Sandwich:
- 2 pieces of grilled, crusty bread
- A garlicky butter
- Add more barbecue sauce if you'd like
Instructions
- Put the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, & red pepper flakes in a bowl. After thoroughly combining the spices, rub them all over the tri-tip.
- Cover and chill the tri-tip overnight after dry-rubbing it.
- Heat grill to 200C/400F. Sear on both sides after brushing with the melted butter.
- Baste the tri-tip with barbecue sauce and cook it for three hours at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grill covered for 25–30 minutes (or until done), turning once every 5 minutes.
- After the grilling time is up, remove the tri-tip to a cutting board to rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly, about 1/3 inch thick.
- Apply a thick layer of garlic butter to the grilled, crusty bread, then layer on the tri-tip. Spread generous barbecue sauce on the bread and pile on the tri tip slices. ENJOY.
